The Gospel is the greatest message that anyone could ever hear and then believe. The Gospel (meaning good news) is clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, along with many other locations in the scriptures. In 1 Corinthians it is stated that Christ died for our sins and rose again on the third day from the dead. Paul says in this passage that the people at Corinth received the Gospel message individually, stood in it, and were therefore saved. What they were saved from is the wrath of God’s punishment against sin. There is no multiple choice. Those who reject the propitiating work of Christ for their sins will end up in hell and be one day cast into the lake of fire at the Great White Throne Judgment as taught in Revelation 20:11-15.
The propitiating work of Christ was His death; taking the punishment of God’s wrath upon Himself on our behalf. By doing so the perfect, sinless Son of God became the substitutional satisfactory sacrifice for our eternal soul; the just (Jesus) dying in place of the unjust (us). John 3:36 states that those who have the Son (believe on Him as their Savior) have life but those who do not have the Son do not have life and the wrath of God abides on them. This is a great tragedy because God is not willing that any should perish but it is an individual choice that each person must make for themselves about Christ. Salvation then is a free gift provided by the grace (unmerited favor) of God.
Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are you saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.”
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
The Gospel is at the core of the Great Commission as given by Christ in the last three verses of the book of Matthew. Have you been redeemed, saved, and pardoned of your sins? If not, agree with God about your terrible sinful condition and believe on Jesus Christ as your personal and only sin bearer for forgiveness and pardon.
